Want to make a real impact while learning about environmental science and conservation?
The SOS Student Intern Program gives local high school students the opportunity to explore our shoreline, participate in citizen science, and help educate the community about why our beaches are disappearing—and what can be done to restore and retain the sand.
Save Oceanside Sand (SOS) is a grassroots organization working with local, regional, state, and federal authorities to protect and restore Oceanside’s natural coastal ecosystems.
Through this program, students gain hands-on experience in environmental stewardship, community outreach, and shoreline science.

"Even with living in Oceanside my whole life, I went into this internship not knowing a thing about how to save our beaches.
Throughout the course of this internship I was able to not only learn about what we need to do to save them, but also, I was able to educate others on the topic as well.
One of my favorite activities of the internship was participating in the Independence Day Parade, being able to hear and see a crowd of people feel the same way we do about saving our beaches really makes you realize what you’re doing has an amazing impact."
