How Beaches Are restored
A Complete Solution Requires More Than One Project
No single project will restore Oceanside's coastline. Lasting success depends on combining multiple strategies that work together to rebuild and maintain healthy beaches.
Sand Nourishment
Adding sand directly to the shoreline restores beach width, improves public access, and creates an immediate buffer against waves and storms.
Sand Retention
Headlands, reefs, and other retention strategies help keep sand from washing away too quickly, allowing restoration projects to last longer.

Harbor Dredging
Regular dredging removes sand that builds up near Oceanside Harbor. Instead of treating it as waste, that sand can be returned to nearby beaches where it belongs.
